Frequently Asked Questions

Everything about booking, pickup, payment, and what a day with us looks like. Can't find your answer? Message us on WhatsApp — you reach Beaudine or Yohan directly, not a call centre.

Booking

How far in advance should I book?

The earlier the better in high season, when boats and buggies fill up days ahead. Seasonal excursions are the ones to lock in early — whale watching runs only from January to March and sells out weeks ahead, so book it as soon as your dates are set rather than deciding on the day.

Bookings close at 22:00 Dominican time the day before the excursion. Need something for tomorrow morning and it's already late? Woke up with a need for speed behind a buggy, or a reason to celebrate on a party boat? Send us a WhatsApp — we will tell you honestly whether we can still arrange it.

How do I know my booking is confirmed?

You receive a confirmation email immediately after booking, in the language you booked in. Your exact pickup time and final details follow before your excursion, usually the day before, once the schedule for your area is set.

Can I book for tomorrow?

Yes, as long as you book before 22:00 Dominican time today. After that the website will show the next available date, because pickup schedules for the morning are already set with our drivers.

What information do you need from me?

Your name, email, phone number with country code, the date, how many people are coming, and the hotel or address where we pick you up — including your room number, so the driver can reach you if you are not in the lobby. Tell us in the notes if anyone has reduced mobility, is pregnant, or has a dietary requirement — it helps us plan the day properly.

Payment & prices

How can I pay?

Two options, and you choose when you book. Pay online with PayPal and your booking is confirmed instantly. Or pay on the day at pickup: cash in US dollars or Dominican pesos with no surcharge, or by card with a 15% surcharge that our bank charges for card payments in the field.

Why is paying by card on the day more expensive?

Card payments taken in the field carry a 15% bank surcharge here — that goes to the bank, not to us. We therefore recommend paying via PayPal in advance or bringing cash, so the surcharge does not apply at all.

Do children pay full price?

Children under 3 travel free. Ages 3 to 9 pay half price. From 10 years they pay the adult price. Ages are checked at pickup, so bring an ID or passport for the children.

Not every excursion suits children — some have a minimum age or are physically demanding, and Coco Bongo is strictly 18+. Each excursion page states who it is suitable for, and if you are unsure, ask us before you book and we will point you to the ones your family will enjoy.

Are there hidden costs?

No. The price on the website is the price per person, and hotel pickup and drop-off are included. What is not included is listed on every excursion page — usually tips, personal purchases, and travel insurance.

Cancellation & changes

What if I need to cancel?

Cancel more than 24 hours before your pickup time and you get a full refund — we process it within 48 hours, and how quickly it lands depends on PayPal and your bank. Within 24 hours of pickup, or if you do not show up, there is no refund. Full details are in our Terms & Conditions.

Can I change my date?

Yes, and it is free if you ask more than 24 hours in advance, subject to availability. Within 24 hours a change fee applies: USD 20 for excursions, USD 100 for private charters. We send a PayPal link and the new date is confirmed once it is paid. Note that once a booking has been moved within 24 hours of the original pickup time, it can no longer be cancelled for a refund.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Safety decides, not the schedule. If conditions make a trip unsafe — rough seas, storms, a port closure — we cancel and you choose between a full refund or moving to another date or excursion. Tropical rain alone usually does not cancel a tour; it passes quickly here.

Pickup & the day itself

Do you pick me up at my hotel?

Yes, pickup and drop-off are included across Punta Cana and Bávaro. You get your exact time the day before. Be at the lobby on time — if you are more than 15 minutes late the group has to leave without you, and that counts as a no-show.

I'm staying outside Punta Cana. Can you still pick me up?

Often yes, depending on where you are and which excursion you pick. Send us a WhatsApp with your hotel name and we will tell you straight away whether it works and what it costs.

What should I bring?

For beach and boat days: swimwear, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, sunglasses, and cash for tips or souvenirs. For city and nature tours: comfortable shoes and a hat. Always bring ID — for Coco Bongo it is required (18+), and for children's rates we verify ages.

What language are the tours in?

Our guides work in English and Spanish, and often other languages as well. Beaudine is Dutch, so Dutch-speaking guests can always reach us in Dutch for questions before and during your trip.

About us

Is it safe to leave the resort?

Getting more people to experience the island beyond the resort walls is the whole reason we started Next Dominican Tour. Here is what we can tell you concretely: we only work with licensed local operators we know personally, every excursion includes pickup and drop-off at your hotel so you are never figuring out transport alone, and you have our WhatsApp number all day.

Hundreds of thousands of visitors explore the country every year, and more and more of them do so without ever staying at a resort. The practical thing is going with people who know the island.

Who actually runs the tours?

We organise your day and stay reachable throughout it; the excursions themselves are run together with licensed local partners — boat crews, drivers, and guides we have selected ourselves. That is how you get local knowledge instead of a resort script.

Do you organise transfers and complete trips too?

Yes. We do airport and hotel transfers, and we build tailor-made holidays for people who want to see more of the country than one beach. Tell us what you like and we plan around it.
